Taboga Express Fast Ferry is one of the quickest and easiest ways to travel to and from Taboga, the beautiful island that has the closest beaches to Panama City, only a 30 minutes ferry ride away. Its vessels operate through the Panama Canal Anchorage area, which means you will be treated to the awesome sight of huge vessels passing or anchored, waiting for their turn to enter the Panama Canal.
All of the Express’ crews are licensed by the Autoridad de Maritima de Panama (Panama Maritime Authority, also known as the AMP) and are fully qualified in first aid and firefighting. Their vessels are fully licensed and inspected by the AMP and all life-saving equipment on board meets or exceeds the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards and regulations. The vessels are also fully insured to operate in a Commercial Passenger Operation; this insurance includes 3rd party insurance in the event of injury or accident.
Passengers may purchase their tickets in advance Online any time at www.tabogaexpress.com using Visa or Mastercard. You may also purchase your tickets directly at the dock. A new service also allows passengers to book online using cash – simply make your reservation Online at www.tabogaexpress.com and select the option PagoCash. Once complete you will be issued a special code. Customers may then pay their tickets in cash using this code at any one of over 850 PuntoPago machines in Panama! Note that PagoCash reservations must be made 48 hours in advance of your trip.
Taboga Express Fast Ferry operates from Brisas de Amador, Isla Perico, on the Amador Causeway, departing Monday to Friday at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday, Sunday and holidays there is an extra trip at 4:30 p.m. The return ferry from Taboga leaves at 8:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday, Sunday and holidays at 5:00 p.m.
The round trip costs $20 for adults, children and Panamanian pensioners $14. You can also bring your dog with you for $5.
Taboga Express also offers packages so you can enjoy your day on this magical island even more. Its Island Excursion for $25 includes a one hour walking Historical Tour with a bilingual guide, who will explain the fascinating history of the island during pirate times, World War II, and more. This tour also includes a visit to San Pedro church, which is the second oldest church in Latin America and was built in the year 1524. Activities available on the Island not included with Ferry passage are: snorkeling, kayak rentals, hiking and a beachfront swimming area.
Another package is the ‘True Executive Lunch’ for $55 per Adult / $41 for residents and Panamanian pensioners which includes a great lunch at the fabulous ‘La Vista Experience’ located in the world renowned Villa Caprichosa Hotel. Start the experience with the Taboga Express Ferry (round trip ticket included) with an 11:00 a.m. departure. You will arrive at Taboga Island at approximately 11:30 a.m., where private transportation will be waiting to take you up the hill to La Vista Restaurant. The price includes round trip ferry with Taboga Express, round trip ground transportation on Taboga Island from the dock to the restaurant, two glasses of wine, iced tea or soda, appetizer, gourmet lunch and dessert.
The “Day Tour’ costs $65. Your Taboga Day Pass includes everything you need to have a wonderful, relaxing day on the island. It includes a welcome drink (Rum Punch), transportation to and from the island on the ferry, with free Wi-Fi on board, chairs and umbrellas on the beach, snorkel gear if requested and a one hour walking Historical Tour with a bilingual guide. Lunch is a full meal with an appetizer (homemade ceviche), dessert (made fresh each day and varies), and your choice of the following 4 lunch options: hamburger, fish filet, fried fish and chicken breast filet.
