Christmas shines in Panama City
The Panama Municipality, for 2017, will have a series of activities, so all the inhabitants of the Capital City embrace the Christmas spirit and for that reason the Christmas lighting better known as “Christmas Shines” coverage has increased significantly adding another 13 new places.
The Francisco Arias Paredes Park located between Cuba and Peru avenues, diagonal to the Hatillo building and 18 sites in the city have been decorated with these lights that cost $2.2 million to give the metropolis a Christmas feel.
The other points that have been decorated are the Coastal Strip, Sabores del Chorrillo, Plaza Catedral, Plaza Francia, Plaza Bolívar, Plaza Herrera, Santa Ana Park, Plaza Porras, Parque Heliodoro Patiño in Juan Díaz, Avenida Manuel Espinosa Batista, Federico Boyd Avenue, the Causeway’s Children Park, Urraca Park, Coastal Avenue, Francisco Arias Paredes Park, Ecuador Avenue and the Casco Antiguo entrance roundabout.
This year the snow storms are back at the Heliodoro Patiño and Porras parks. The lighting has low energy usage LED technology. To install on the lightning, the Panama Municipality worked in an organized and careful way paying attention to the details, so thousands of people will enjoy it.
Additionally to this, the Christmas activities will also have the awaited Christmas parade on Sunday, December 10, where 12 floats will fill the Coastal Strip roads with music, dance and fun. This year the parade’s theme is Christmas’ carols. It will have international production standards with perimeter railings along the routes with sets where artistic presentations will take place from 2:30 p.m. The great finale will be a display of fireworks synchronized to music.
As well as the parade there will be other events like a Christmas bazaar on Friday, December 15 at the Francisco Arias Paredes Park. A Nativity reenactment will take place in the same park on Sunday 17 at 6:30 p.m. The following day, on Monday 19 a concert called “Noche de Arrabal” (Nights in the Neighboorhood) will be performed at the Santa Ana Park at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday 21 the Urraca Park will be the setting for the Symphonic Salsa concert and the Panama National Ballet will perform the traditional Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” at the same place on Saturday, December 23 at 6:30 p.m.
The Christmas will come to an end on Saturday, January 6 with the arrival of the Three Wise Men at the Plaza Catedral, Casco Antiguo at 6:30 p.m. for the children enjoyment. On Sunday 7 a walk / race will take place at the Coastal Strip at 8:00 a.m.
The Panama City suburbs can also appreciate the spectacle “Navidad Contigo” (Christmas with you) with local singer performances, music and a lot of fun. On Saturday 16 it will go to Las Cumbres and it will happen next to the Community Board building. On Friday 23 it will be at the La Siesta Cultural and Sports Center (Complejo Cultural y Deportivo La Siesta) at 6:00 p.m.
