Pixvae, the unknown jewel of the Pacific
Pixvae is a small fishing town located in Las Palmas, Veraguas province, and is one of the entrances to the Coiba National Park. An ecotourism fair will take place from Friday 12 to Sunday, January 14, which aims to show the tourist attractions and culture of the area.
This year there will be folkloric dance troupes, sale of handicraft, food, singing competitions and even a fishing tournament to find out who is the best fisherman in town, seafood tasting and much more. Artisans from the nearby towns will also be present at the fair.
Pixvae climate is cool due to its proximity to La Sierra, which are the mountains which surround the town. There are different places to stay, so accommodation is not a problem. To get there take a bus to Santiago from the Albrook Bus Terminal, once in Santiago take another to Sona, you can find a minibus to Pixvae. The road is not in good condition, if are you driving you are going to need a 4X4 vehicle. Although it is not that accessible, it is a lovely place to visit and see Coiba National Park.
