Santa’s Race returns

Santa´s Race, one of the events which has become an obligatory appointment for adults and children in their sport’s program during the Christmas season, will take place on Sunday, December 17, in the grounds of the City of Knowledge. This is a race of five kilometers on a route closed to traffic and surrounded by lush vegetation.

The event aroused curiosity and interest in the community from its first edition in the local racing community, because it is a test which goes beyond the competitive aspect, incorporating sportsmanship and the sharing of a moment of healthy recreation with family and friends. Proof of that, is that year after year registrations have increased to allow more people to participate, and even so, they were sold out in a few days. In this year’s edition the race will start at 7:00 a.m., after a warm-up.

“We have been very surprised by the impressive response of the participants, because after only two days all the available places have been taken,” said Fernando Revuelta of the website “Running in Panama”, one of the organizers of the race along with the media platform, Sports & Health.

As in previous years, every participant will receive a traditional Santa Claus hat, but many of them will deck themselves with items related to the Christmas festivities. There will be prizes for the winners, for those who stand out because of their enthusiasm, for groups with the highest number of participants, for the best costumes and even for pets which accompany their owners.

The money collected from the event will go to the “Make a Wish” Foundation, which makes the dreams of boys and girls affected with serious illnesses a reality, to enrich their lives with hope, strength and happiness.

People wear Christmas costumes during the race.
