Celebrating Five Years of Panamanian Specialty Coffee
Casa Sucre Coffeehouse is having a party on January 20 when they celebrate their fifth anniversary by serving delicious deserts, handcrafted sandwiches and Panamanian specialty coffees. If you are in Casco Antiguo stop by. Entrance to the celebration is free.
“We invite all our customers and friends to come and enjoy a special afternoon with us. It will be an open-house”, said Rich and Alyce Sherman, Casa Sucre’s owners. The celebration begins at midday with a lecture given by the coffee producer, Rich Lipner, who is the owner of Café de la Luna in Boquete. This is an excellent opportunity to talk to a local expert grower.
The afternoon will continue with a special presentation by Danilo Sastre, who will play his innovative style of jazz and classical harp from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Later, at 3:30 p.m., a toast will be given by the café hosts and for this special occasion they will have open champagne for all present. The event will finish with the raffle of a gift basket at 4:00 p.m.
The coffeehouse was inspired by United States “coffee shops” with eclectic decoration, comfortable seating and Wi-Fi. The 1,000 square foot cafe sells coffees from the Boquete and Volcan regions of Panama. Casa Sucre offers fresh roasted coffee beans from the fincas of Barareque Estates, Café de la Luna, Hacienda Fennario, Hartmann Farms, Café Ruiz and coffee roaster Panama Joe.
Located on Calle 8 and Avenida B, Casa Sucre also has a boutique hotel with five bedrooms and three apartments. The hotel opened its doors in 2011 and the coffeehouse opened in 2013.
