BocasFest offers the best in reggae and calypso
The best reggae, roots and calypso groups in Panama will perform on Saturday, March 31 in the second version of “BocasFest”, on Isla Colón, Bocas del Toro, according to the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) who organized the event.
The party will begin at 7:00 p.m., in the Simon Bolivar Park, with the presentation of the musical groups: Séptima Raíz, Shacra and their Hot Calypso, Los Isleños, Kawee Calipso Band, and Malibu Riddims.
Enrique Sánchez, marketing director of the ATP, pointed out that “BocasFest” forms part of the events programmed by the institution for this year’s “Historical Summer” , which have taken place every Thursday in March in Panama Viejo, Panama City. “These activities in addition to offering leisure time for the population, also seek to show tourists part of our culture,” explained Sànchez
The last BocaFest took place in November 2016 with the participation of musicians from Bocas del Toro.
Due to its spectacular islands and beaches with crystal clear waters, the Bocas del Toro archipelago is one of most visited places in the country. In 2017 more than 160,000 visitors arrived on the island, of which 98,000 came through the Costa Rican border and the rest by air and sea.
Roger Lopez, ATP provincial director in Bocas del Toro, said that four flights land on the island every day with an average of 45 people each, the majority of them European and American, and many of them stay there for several weeks.
Sanchez pointed out that the tourists, especially the Europeans, choose Bocas del Toro for its beaches, culture, nature and gastronomy.
