Direct flights China-Panama start in April
The inaugural flight of Air China, which will cover the route between China and Panama, with a technical stop in Houston (United States), will arrive in Tocumen International Airport, in the Panamanian capital on Thursday, March 29, at 2:30 p.m. local time. However the frequency will not start operating officially until Thursday, April 5.
The inaugural flight will bring a delegation from the airline plus entrepreneurs and tourists. The President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, will receive the visitors together with senior government officials such as the Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Him.
It is anticipated that the route will deepen trade, investment, maritime business, education and tourism cooperation between China, Panama and the rest of the region.
For the last few years Air China has been working to develop Beijing into a major airport hub with a truly global reach. Air China’s route network already spans all six continents. While this route is unique, it is not the first flight to Latin America on a Chinese airline. Presently China Southern flies from Guangzhou to Vancouver to Mexico City, Air China flies from Beijing to Montreal to Havana, and Air China flies from Beijing to Madrid to Sao Paulo.

The Beijing-Houston-Panama City route is served by the Boeing 777-300 ER (Extended Range) plane, a wide-bodied aircraft that is popular with business travelers. The First and Business Class cabins are equipped with fully-reclining seats and a central bar area, while passengers in all travel classes have their own in-flight entertainment system and power sockets. The Boeing aircraft also features wheelchair-accessible lavatories and dynamic LED mood lighting to ensure a more comfortable journey for all passengers.
Air China operates 395 passenger routes, including 102 international routes, 14 regional routes and 279 national routes, serving 180 cities in 39 countries (regions). Each week Air China offers more than 8,500 flights and more than 1.66 million seats.
