The event has a circuit of five tournaments which will be played over six months in the golf courses of Real de Sevilla, El Saler- Valencia, Basozabal- San Sebastian and Golf Santander, in Spain, and the final will be in Panama next September.
The opening tournament took place last April 18 at Golf Santander, Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, with the participation of former Real Madrid soccer players, journalists, the bullfighter Oscar Higares and the golfer from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Belen Mozo.
The Spanish selection will be formed by the winners of each one of the tournaments that take place in Spain, who will then face the Panamanian team in September also formed by ten players, among them Mozo. Last year Panama won the Cup.
“The competitions will be covered by Spanish media with a great audience, which will guarantee that more people will get to know Panamanian tourist attractions and the regions where golf can be played,” said the Golf Illusion Cup tournament president, Juan José Villanueva.
The tournaments, including the final, will also be transmitted in the program “Golfing World”, with a worldwide audience; additionally 146 countries will broadcast the competitions in their media, “We are talking about 400 million people”, he said.
According to Villanueva, every time that a tournament takes place the main attractions of Panama will be seen by millions of people through media specialized in this sporting discipline.
