Tourism is an important segment in the western province of Chiriqui and this subject was analyzed at CADE, the annual meeting of the Private Enterprise Executives (APEDE) that took place at the Hacienda Los Molinos Hotel on Friday, June 1. The event “Tourism- building a sustainable brand destination”, touched subjects such as coffee growing as a tourism product, agrotourism and the construction of a green convention center in the area.

During her speech, Mercedes Eleta de Brenes, president of APEDE Vision Country Commission stated, “We need to work in a coordinated manner to create a strategy for Panama as a tourist destination, not only in the communications area, but also in selling a concept and delivering a good product to visitors.”

Brenes added that the attitude of Panamanians towards tourists should improve, be friendlier, offering a good service to attract visitors and make their stay in Panama really wonderful.

Felipe Ariel Rodriguez of the Occidental Region Competitiveness Center announced that the tendering for the green convention center, that will bring congress tourism to the region, will begin soon.

Every year CADE Chiriqui studies a subject that affects the economic development of the province and its impact on the country.
