World Cup burgers
The World Cup fever is invading the country and hotels and restaurants have decided to pay homage to the Red Tide (Marea Roja), the nickname of the Panamanian soccer team, with special burgers, which are red and flavorsome.
The Saril Burger, a specialty of Le Meridien Hotel on Balboa Avenue, was created by Chef Victor Gonzalez. It is made with annatto (achiote) red bread, 100% Angus beef, green spice mayonnaise, cheddar cheese and smoked Creole pepper mozzarella. During the whole month of the World Cup this special creation can be bought for $10 per person and includes a beer.
The fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s has also joined the trend with the Russian McCombo which consists of a burger with a bread bun in the shape of a soccer ball, 100% beef patty, crispy onions, goulash sauce (very popular in Russia and made with tomato, vegetables and smoked paprika), white cheese, lettuce and bacon.
These are just two places that have created special burgers to mark the World Cup. There are many out there, you only need to find the right one for you. Happy hunting.
