Just as the most impressive beach hotel in Panama was about to come on the market earlier this year, Nikki Beach snatched back its party-based brand from the owner, RG Hotels. Maru Galvez, CEO of RG Hotels wasted no time and announced in March at the Berlin ITB tourism fair, that she had struck a deal with a newly-fused tourism promoter and property operator called Blue Diamond. The deal plugged the five star resort property into a steady flow of international charter tourists from the largest tourism company in Europe.
The deal combines the strengths of RG Hotels with global tourism mega-powers TUI and SunWing, from Europe and Canada respectively, to launch an elite-class all-inclusive new hotel brand, the new Royalton Spa and Beach Resort at Playa Blanca.
With this chic new resort, Royalton sets out to redefine what an all-inclusive can be, with ever-so comfortable rooms, diverse dining options, premium liquors and top-notch service.
The resort is spectacular inside and out. Paths wind throughout the lush tropical garden dotted with whimsical pools and designer lounging areas in the 100,000 square foot beach club. There is lots to enjoy: a big waterfront infinity pool, swim-up bar, restaurants, thatch umbrellas and lounge chairs on the white sand beach. Inside, a modern contemporary design theme uses natural elements and earth tones to create an ideal environment for relaxation in the ultra-comfortable beds that RG Hotels has become known for at its Playa Blanca Resort and Casa Grande Bambito properties.

Royalton Panama is in its inception, which means that this big, beautiful new resort located one hour and 20 minutes from Panama City (between Playa Blanca and Buenaventura) can be enjoyed almost all to one’s self for a limited time. Nationally-booked rates begin at $135 per person per day in double occupancy, with everything included. Features like the spa and more restaurants are planned.
Blue Diamond plans to open more properties under the Royalton brand throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. But Panama will always be able to say “we had it first.”
